How accessible this website is

As this is a pilot scheme, there may be areas of the website that are not yet fully accessible. We are aware of the following issues:

  • Some elements on the site do not meet the contrast ratio of 4:5:1.
  • Third-party plugins may not meet full accessibility standards

We are working to address these as part of our ongoing development.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

University For The Creative Arts is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.

This website is built using the Shopify platform and its underlying codebase. Shopify states under their accessibility statement the following, “Shopify uses the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 as its guiding principle. As we create new products, the principles of accessible design and development are an integral part of conception and realization.

We continually test content and features for WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance and do our best to remediate any issues and meet or exceed the standards. Our accessibility experts test our digital content and products with a variety of tools including automated testing software, screen readers, voice dictation, screen magnification, color contrast analyzers, keyboard-only navigation techniques, and a variety of bookmarklets. We also work with people with disabilities to complete usability tests during product creation, all in an effort to build accessible products.”

Therefore we depend on third parties to deliver some functionality and services that we cannot perform ourselves. Wherever possible we work with third parties to ensure that the service they provide achieves conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
We cannot guarantee that all our third-party applications, links and services will always remain accessible and usable due to various updates made by third party suppliers.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

  • Adjusting the colour contrast on all content to ensure a minimum colour contrast of 4:5:1
  • Ensuring maximum functionality of 3rd Party Accessibility Plugins.
